What was Joseph Banks' belief about Captain Cook's voyage to New Zealand?
I need to know what Joseph Banks, a botanist that was taken along on the voyage, believed about Captain Cook's voyage to New Zealand. You know, stuff like the great Southern Continent. Please try to explain why he believed these things. Thanks!
He believed that Australia and New Zealand should be settled by the British. In fact, he advocated that a penal colony be established there due to its relative isolation.
